Thorn project acclaimed for sustainability Energy saving and a controlled working environment …those are the twin benefits conferred by Thorn on the Stockland property group. The group needed efficient and effective lighting for 2 Victoria Avenue – a new 7,200m² architecturally stylish A-grade office building adjacent to its existing Durak Centre in Perth’s CBD. Awarded Western Australia’s first six-star Green Star rating by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) this unique development delivers outstanding sustainability and business performance through leading environmental initiatives. The proviso was to fully integrate a building service process that would achieve a green landmark office building. Thorn used its performance, efficiency and comfort - PEC - programme to design a 1x28W louvered recessed troffer module with air handling facilities. The luminaire delivers a high light output ratio and offers maximum energy efficiency and controllability via addressable DALI electronic ballasts. The modular soft wiring system allows for complete flexibility of office replanning at a future date. The design of the four-story building promotes an open outward-looking environment with dramatic views of the Swan River from all levels. The building’s individually monitored external louvres respond to sunlight, allowing an abundance of natural light. Because of the large floor areas, lighting also plays an important part in creating a bright, airy working atmosphere. Additional environmental features include grey water recycling, rooftop wind turbines, active chilled beam air-conditioning and extensive cyclist facilities. |
