Road and Tunnel Lighting Roe Highway, WA - Stage 7 These designer poles incorporate the Alpha2000 making not only a public artwork but also a functional part of the lighting scheme. Lighting Designer: Ivan Semmler, Maunsells Design criteria: AS/NZS 1158.1 Cat V3 lighting levels required by Main Roads Western Australia, Vandal resistant fittings for the pathways and underpasses. Why did you use Thorn?: Ivan Semmler comments below: The Thorn Alpha 2000 was selected because of its excellent photometrics. Also the ability to adjust the lamp holder to suit different situations such as varying road widths and still give maximum spacings is a great advantage when using the Thorn Alpha 2000. Previous experience in the field shows that the performance of this luminaire, both from a photometric and mechanical point of views is excellent. Similarly the Thorn Civic for the Shared Path lighting was selected for it’s photometric and mechanical including vandal resistant performance. Thorn Lighting provided considerable assistance throughout the entire design and subsequent delivery process. They also assisted greatly in the selection and method of modification of the Thorn Alpha 2000 for the seven “Entry Statement Poles”. The service from Thorn Lighting could not have been better. The project was developed, designed and built by the Roe7 Alliance, being an alliance between Main Roads Western Australia being the owner, Maunsell being the Designers and Clough being the builders.
