IGA Supermarket, Stafford Shopping Centre, Stafford Lighting that brings out the flavour! Thorn Lighting in Queensland partnered with TRG (Consultant) to provide a lighting solution for a new IGA store in Stafford Shopping Centre – Stafford Road Stafford. The store opened on the 18th of May 2009 with rave reviews for the lighting from IGA, TRG and the owners. IGA is the world’s largest voluntary supermarket network with over 4,000 independent stores in some 41 different countries. IGA was brought to Australia in 1988 when 10 stores initially became members of IGA. In more recent times independent retailers have come to realise the benefits of uniting together under one brand, and today there are over 1000 IGA stores in the country. IGA has placed a big emphasis on using energy efficient lighting its new stores and therefore a key requirement of this project was for the lighting to be compliant with the standards outlined in the Building Code of Australia. Together with the expertise of Thorn’s Lighting Design Centre and our focus on providing efficient and practical lighting via the PEC frame work, Thorn was able to deliver the required results. The project used a mix of proven Thorn products as well as newly released fixtures to meet the requirements within the different areas of the supermarket, whether it was for the aisle or the chiller. In total over 400 fittings were utilized in the design. Given the success of this project IGA, TRG and Thorn are looking forward to continuing their relationship in completing more installations in the coming months. |
