Thorn Lighting has secured the contract to provide the floodlighting for Ireland’s largest sports stadium, Croke Park in Dublin. The order involves approximately 460 Mundial floodlights employing 2kW metal halide lamps. The equipment, specified by Shane Santry & Associates Architects and J.V. Tierney & Co Consulting Engineers, is being installed by Crowe Engineering of Dublin. Completion is anticipated late this year.

Home to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Croke Park has been at the heart of Irish sporting life for over a hundred years, most notably hosting the annual finals of the All-Ireland gaelic football championship and hurling championship. Following its recent redevelopment, Croke Park now has capacity for 82,300 people and is the fourth largest stadium in Europe.

The company’s sales manager for Ireland, Terry Lockyer, commenting on the announcement said "We are delighted to have secured this prestigious contract in the face of intense international competition. It demonstrates our major projects expertise and capability in Ireland and will be instrumental in consolidating Thorn’s position as a leading world-wide provider of sports floodlighting."
