Orus bridges the gap First installation of Thorn Orus road lighting lanterns light bridge in Nice in the South of France. Applications Orus opens up a new world for the road lighting engineer. From the application point of view, one of the most important points about Orus is its flexibility. Supplied with either a stirrup or bollard base it can be top or side mounted, suspended or free standing, thus making it ideal for projects where traditional road lighting is not feasible:
It is a vital part of its overall concept that Orus can be used on roads with or without pedestrians, hence there is a choice of optics: the 'Road Optic’ directs light entirely onto the road, while, where pedestrians are present, the 'Street Optic’ creates a 'circle’ of light around the luminaire, thus enabling drivers to detect a person’s entire body. This also enables facial recognition by other pedestrians. These are just a few of the possibilities - but they show vividly the scope and potential of Thorn’s new development. |
