2012/13 Sustainability report now available
The fourth Sustainability report from the Zumtobel Group is now available to download. Published in English and German, it covers the group's three brands – Thorn, Tridonic and Zumtobel – and is divided into a Magazine section and a Facts section.
Highlights include coverage of Thorn's key sustainability initiatives for 2012/13. These include the Smart Building Experience, Thorn Energy Partnership and the City of Light open-air show room in Sweden. Several of Thorn's projects from the UK, Norway, Denmark and France also demonstrate how energy savings of between 25 and 89% have been achieved.
Other areas covered in the report include the €3m refurbishment of Thorn's luminaire factory in France. The factory now benefits from 30% light energy savings, rainwater harvesting and efficient heating, amongst other initiatives. In turn, it recently attained the ISO 14001 certification.
CEO Harald Sommerer says: "We are in a position to make a valuable contribution, especially with a view to energy efficiency. The technical solution approaches and the products we are developing for all our three brands are based on energy efficiency in a very essential way. More generally speaking, in all our decisions, we always take care to act as sustainably as possible."
