Devised in 2012 the Thorn Energy Partnership is a venture between Thorn and lighting professionals. Open to applications from installers and contractors, the aim is to promote energy efficiency without sacrificing good lighting performance, while saving a grand total of 25 000t of C02.

All applicants are supported with a 2-year certified training programme. This training ensures they are equipped with the breadth and depth of knowledge required to successfully implement energy saving lighting schemes with a quick, attractive pay back. Successes to date include, over 500 signed up partners, out of which we have rewarded 48 bronze, 26 silver and 23 gold partners across 7 countries. Additionally, based on the reported projects, we can estimate a total carbon reduction of 13 600t via our partners today, just short of the target for the end of 2015.

As we approach the middle of the year some of the pioneering Thorn Energy Partners have reached the end of their two years training. The teams in Italy celebrated the occasion with an event in Austria, where the first graduates were treated to a trip to the Year of Light exhibition. The exhibition was unveiled in April to mark the start of the United Nations Year of Light. The Thorn presentation includes new urban products Urba and FleXity and the new indoor flat panel luminaire Omega Pro. Also the new trade identity with picture packaging was shown. The highlight of the exhibition was the 3D model of the Smart City online application.

"We are extremely proud to see some our first partners completing the course. But now we need to put the 'what's next' in place" explains Business Initiatives Manager Wolfgang Bernecker.

To address this, on the 27/28th May the Thorn Energy Partnership ambassadors met to discuss and workshop the next steps for the program. The aim of the meeting was to align thinking and to gain power and momentum for what lies ahead.

Wolfgang explains "We had a very successful two days full of ideas, which we will now implement."

Vlatka Duric, Field Marketing Manager in the CEE region adds, "So many ideas gained from several intensive workshops, we are looking forward to seeing the reaction of our partners once they have been implemented."
